Marvel Rivals Boldly Unveils its New Lady Loki Costume
You might label Marvel Rivals as an Overwatch clone, developer NetEase deserves praise for finding innovative ways to engage its unabashedly thirsty audience. Introducing Lady Loki, a completely new outfit for the current Strategist hero Loki, offering players a faithful to the comics version of the Norse deity.
Not Hela, But Loki
Despite earlier predictions and fears, the highly anticipated Lady Loki costume is not a skin for Hela. Instead, it is a complete visual overhaul of Loki himself, featuring fresh voiceover work. Judging by the official preview, Lady Loki retains all of Loki's core abilities: his projectile attack, Deception, and his clone ability. The sole difference is her striking new look, tailored to appeal to an segment of fans more than ready to spend their in-game currency.
Hearing and Seeing Lady Loki
Below is a glimpse at Lady Loki on the battlefield, along with a sample of her VO, performed by voice actor Abby Trott. Notably Trott is also the voice behind Magik in Marvel Rivals.
The character's dialogue and onscreen presence add a new energy to the well-known playstyle.
Opening the Door to Possibilities
Now that NetEase has opened the door with this gender-swapped skin for Loki, the Marvel Rivals community is busy speculating about similar swaps. Fan suggestions currently range from:
- Gwenpool as the forthcoming Deadpool.
- Thor's alter ego Jane Foster as the God of Thunder.
- Gwen Stacy as Spider-Woman.
The big question remains: Will NetEase have the guts to introduce less mainstream variants, such as former hero Sharon Ventura as She-Thing? That will probably hinge on player requests!
