Neither side produced much of note in the opening 45 minutes as they cancelled each other out in midfield.

The first half would not have enthused viewers, but those who stuck around were treated to an explosion of real excitement in the second half – as Juventus fought back three times, with eight goals coming from the 51st minute onward.

This marks only the second-ever Champions League game where eight goals have been scored during a single half, following the latter period of Bayern Munich's 9-2 win over Zagreb last season.

Karim Adeyemi put Dortmund ahead the opener when he expertly shifted the ball on the edge of the box and placed it past the keeper.

Dortmund stepped up with their finishing, but, little over 10 minutes after, a piece of Juventus magic by Yildiz ended with the young star curling a wonderful effort into the far top corner from range.

Less than 120 seconds later and Dortmund were back in front, as Nmecha producing another sublime finish curling a first-time effort top shelf.

Yet the drama continued with further twists to come, and Vlahovic slotted home in a breakaway under later to level once more.

Late Drama

After surrendering their advantage on two occasions, BVB retook control once again when Yan Couto, sprinting towards the Juve box, drilled a low drive inside the near post, narrowly past the dive of the goalkeeper.

Bensebaini doubled the advantage from the penalty spot after former England Under-21 international Kelly handled it inside the area.

But the Serbian fired a last-gasp shot off the woodwork before setting up former Bristol City and Bournemouth defender Lloyd Kelly to seal a late equalizer.
