The athlete achieved her personal best of 1:54.61 the previous season in the British capital.

Keely Hodgkinson finished her 800m campaign with a win at the women-only Athlos meet in NYC on Friday evening.

{The current Olympic gold medallist, who secured bronze at the World Championships recently, dominated an outstanding victory in 1:56.53 in what was only her sixth race in a season impacted by a muscle issue.

Compatriot and global silver winner Georgia Bell took the runner-up spot once more in one minute 58.33 seconds, while St Vincent's Shafiqua Maloney (one minute 58.57) claimed third.

"I've barely raced this season so it was likely easier for me to compete and want to give it something," stated Hodgkinson.

"The atmosphere at the event is crazy so it was extremely enjoyable."

The female-exclusive meet filled the stadium in its second year, bringing a party atmosphere to conventional athletics, with live music and Tiffany & Co. crowns substituting standard medals.

The tennis legend with 23 major titles Serena Williams, who is married to Athlos founder Alexis Ohanian, was on hand to present the winners with their tiaras.

Last year's winners took home sixty thousand dollars (forty-four thousand six hundred and three pounds) - among the biggest cash prizes in track and field.

The competition also drew some of the sport's biggest names, as Kenya's three-time Olympic gold medallist and global record breaker Faith Kipyegon triumphed in the mile race, crossing the finish line in four hours 17.78 minutes.

The US Brittany Brown, the 200m bronze winner from last year's Paris Olympics, secured the 100m and 200m double.
